Full Porcelain Crowns, Inlays, and Onlays

When a tooth is cracked or damaged to the extent that it cannot accommodate a filling, a dental crown is the best remedy. At NU Smile Dental Centers, we use full porcelain crowns to help strengthen your bite and improve the appearance of your teeth. We will even match the color of your custom porcelain restoration to the natural shade of your teeth. As a result, your new crown will be virtually undetectable in your mouth.

Porcelain inlays and onlays can also be used to correct rear teeth that have been damaged with slight cracks or fractures or that present mild to moderate decay. An inlay is formed to fit over a portion of the biting surface of a tooth, while an onlay can be used to restore a larger portion of the tooth surface. Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry allows patients to receive treatments while in a comfortable state of relaxation.  It also provides dentists with the opportunity to perform complex treatments that might otherwise require a number of patient visits to accomplish.

Periodontics

Periodontal diseases occur when bacteria enter the attachment fibers and bone structure that support and secure teeth in the mouth. The bacteria can cause infection, and if left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. We have a periodontist on staff to provide periodontal (gum) care and deal with cases involving advanced gum disease and tooth loss.

Gingivitis and periodontitis are the two most common periodontal diseases. Gingivitis is the beginning stage of the disease process, indicated by red, swollen gums that may bleed easily. As the disease progresses toward periodontitis, the gums begin to separate from the teeth, forming pockets that collect bacteria that ultimately erode the bone. As more bone is lost, teeth become loose and eventually fall out.
