Organic Microderm

The sun and natural aging can take their toll on your appearance. Over time, your face can begin to look rough and weathered. Organic microderm is a natural process to restore damaged skin. Tiny crystal granules are hand-applied to the face to remove dead skin as they cleanse and detoxify. The treatment also stimulates new cell growth, replenishing the skin, improving skin pigmentation, and reducing the appearance of fine lines, acne, and blemishes.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

A purified form of botulinum toxin, BOTOX® Cosmetic corrects facial wrinkles and creases by blocking nerve impulses in the treated area and paralyzing the muscles, allowing the skin to relax and lines to smooth.

The results from treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can last up to four months. Repeated injections can prolong the smoothing effects and increase the amount of time before new treatments are needed.

Restylane® and JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel

Restylane® and JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel are injectable fillers composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that can be found in the human body. Once injected into the treatment area, both Restylane® and JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel use the body's own moisture to produce volume, raising the skin and smoothing wrinkles and fine lines.

Restylane® and JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel do not carry the risk of allergic reaction associated with other types of fillers. They are non-animal based substances that are completely biocompatible. Thus, no allergy test is required prior to treatment. The results of Restylane® and JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel can last up to six months. Additional injections are required to maintain the smoothing effects, but repeated treatments can prolong results and increase the duration between treatments.

Radiesse®

Radiesse® is made up of smooth, pearl-like microspheres of naturally-occurring calcium hydroxylapatite. These particles are suspended in a soft gel which is injected into deep wrinkles and fine lines to form a "scaffold" upon which new tissue can grow.  As the body absorbs the gel, the microspheres continue to provide support for the new tissue and collagen that has formed.  Because the process is slow, the effects of Radiesse® can last for over a year.   Radiesse® creates natural volume that provides a natural, youthful appearance.  Skin rejuvenation with Radiesse® is safe.  Its natural components virtually eliminate the risk of the allergic reactions that can occur with the use of some of the other cosmetic fillers on the market. Because it does not need skin testing, gives a natural-looking appearance, and lasts longer than most other fillers, in expert hands Radiesse® is the filler of choice for facial contouring.

Radiesse® is often combined with hyaluronic acid fillers, BOTOX® Cosmetic, and laser rejuvenation procedures, including fractionated laser treatment, and intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy.  Treatments typically require 10-20 minutes, and topical anesthesia is used to minimize discomfort. We recommend that clients arrive well in advance of their appointments in order to allow the anesthetic cream some time to take effect.  Depending on the areas treated, more than one syringe may be required to create the best look possible.  Follow-up appointments ensure optimum results and allow our doctors to perform any necessary touch-ups.

IPL Photo Rejuvenation

As we age, the damaging effects of sun and wind exposure, the steady march of time, and the influence of hormones begin to take their toll on our skin. Fine lines begin to appear around the eyes and lips, followed by grooves in the brow, and deep furrows between the nose and the corners of the mouth. Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy can restore skin to its brilliant luster with light energy similar to the flash of a camera. The focused energy passes through the epidermis (or outer layer of skin) to the dermis below – where blood vessels, pigment cells, and collagen are located – leaving the epidermis unharmed. The pigments in the skin that cause brown spots and red discoloration also absorb the energy of the laser and gradually disappear.

The redness and peeling that are often the result of traditional laser skin resurfacing is avoided. The intense light energy stimulates the dermis, promoting the formation of new collagen that lifts the skin and reduces wrinkles and fine lines. By greatly improving skin tone and texture, the skin appears more vibrant, radiant and healthy.

Treatments are relatively painless, do not require an anesthetic, and take about 20 minutes. Recovery is quick; there is minimal redness lasting only a few days. Based on your skin’s needs you may combine IPL with other rejuvenation treatments for maximum results.

Rosacea Treatment

Unfortunately, no cure currently exists for rosacea. It can be controlled, though. One method uses IPL photo rejuvenation, which can diminish the flushing or redness of the face that is commonly associated with rosacea. In addition to IPL therapy, we can provide various ointments and oral antibiotics that help control the condition.

Fractionated Laser Skin Tightening

Fractionated laser skin tightening (or resurfacing) is a revolutionary technology used in the treatment of aging skin. Laser energy is used to neutralize old and damaged cells within the epidermis, which stimulates the production of new, healthy tissue. As the treated skin heals, a strong underlying framework of new collagen is produced. This represents a more convenient method than traditional laser skin tightening, which removed an entire layer of skin to achieve rejuvenation. Recovery was therefore very difficult and painful and resulted in reddened skin for more than a month.

Fractionated skin tightening uses the laser to focus heat energy on microscopic areas of the skin. Heating these areas produces trauma that initiates the production of new tissue and collagen, resulting in tighter, healthier, younger-looking skin. Recovery is faster than with traditional laser treatment and involves minimal redness that lasts for only a few days. Most patients resume normal activity immediately after the procedure and return to work the following day. Because this method is non-surgical and minimally invasive, it does not require the lengthy recovery times associated with facelifts and other more invasive surgical procedures that produce similar cosmetic results.

More than one treatment is needed for optimal results. Fractionated laser tightening, like all other skin treatments, is one component of a comprehensive skin care program. It is often combined with creams, lotions, and various types of protection against sun damage (such as sun-block). After your first round of skin tightening, yearly laser treatments will maintain the skin's natural, youthful appearance. We will discuss this in detail at the time of your consultation.

Acne Treatment

IPL therapy can be quite effective in treating acne. The light energy neutralizes the bacteria that cause the acne while exfoliating the affected area and unclogging pores. IPL acne treatment is a component of the total skin care program we offer to control acne and prevent future breakouts.

Severe acne can lead to deep scarring on the face, especially the cheek and temple areas. Most treatments for the deep acne scars prove fruitless. Fractionated laser skin treatment is a very effective technique in treating acne scars. By promoting new collagen production, fractionated laser treatments are able to fill in acne scars while smoothing the surrounding skin. This requires several treatments and continuous management of acne.

Laser Hair Removal

Using intense laser light, Dr. Larian can remove large areas of unwanted hair with virtually no pain. A low-energy laser targets the follicles beneath the skin that are responsible for hair growth. The heat energy is then absorbed by the pigment within, neutralizing growth almost instantaneously. Unfortunately, laser hair removal is less effective on light-colored hair because of the lack of dark pigmentation at the root to absorb the energy.

Though results vary from person to person, laser hair removal can reduce unwanted hair by up to 80 percent. To maximize the benefits of laser hair removal, multiple treatments can be performed to extend the period of hair loss.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture originated in ancient China and is used in traditional Chinese medicine to unblock an individual's 'chi' and restore balance between the forces of 'yin' and 'yang'. While the patient reclines, tiny needles are inserted into a series of acupressure points on the body. This is meant to stimulate and return balance to the flow of energy throughout the body.

Patients may feel a slight pinch as the needles are inserted into the skin, but the treatment, overall, is quite painless. Acupuncture can be used to relieve pain, treat chronic diseases such as asthma or depression, but is most commonly used in stress relief. In this capacity, the treatment relaxes muscles, particularly in the face, allowing them to smooth and create a younger appearance. The duration and frequency of treatments vary, based on what the patient is trying to achieve, but can take up to 10 sessions for the effects to be felt.

Our acupuncturists are certified doctors of Oriental medicine, and acupuncture is a safe alternative to conventional pain and disease management.

We can also treat common ailments with a variety of natural, herbal remedies. Soothing oils and salves can be applied to provide relief from everyday aches and pains. Herbal supplements can be prepared that can treat an array of illnesses, alleviate stress, promote energy, or aid in sleep.
